About

Who are we?

We’re four Americans living in Israel who united in the wake of the terrible terrorist attacks in Israel which began on October 7, 2023. Together, we started Support 4 Israel to answer the question “How can we help?” from our friends abroad.

Support 4 Israel is a place where you can find causes that resonate with you, no matter where you are in the world. Our mission is to make it easy to support Israel, whether it is contributing financially to a grassroots organization, taking action on social media, signing a petition, or participating in a community event. Your participation can make a significant difference.

Note that we are volunteers and do not receive any benefit from the donations or organizations listed here. This is a dynamic and evolving project for us – we are constantly changing the site to highlight different local grassroots organizations that address changing needs of the people, towns, and country affected by these terrible events. Please check back frequently. 😊

What happened in Israel on October 7th?

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, what was supposed to be a peaceful Shabbat and the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, Israel faced unprecedented tragedy. On this day, thousands of Hamas terrorists breached the Gaza security fence and invaded southern Israel. They used heavy machinery and explosives to break through, while simultaneously launching a barrage of rockets from Gaza.

The terrorists invaded Israel by land, air, and sea, conducting brutal attacks on Israeli towns and IDF bases surrounding Gaza. They broke into civilian homes, shooting, torturing, burning, and beheading men, women, children, and the elderly. Additionally, they targeted the Nova Music Festival in Re’im, firing indiscriminately at thousands of civilians gathered from around the world to celebrate peace through music.

Over 1,400 people were killed on this day, and more than 200 people captured. The hostages, currently being held in Gaza, are women, men, the elderly and even babies.

This was a devastating and earth-shattering event for Israelis, and for humanity. Not since the Holocaust has this many Jews been killed in a single day. The date of October 7th will forever serve as a reminder that there are human beings capable of the most inhumane and heinous acts. May the memories of those who lost their lives forever be for a blessing.

How do you choose which organizations to feature?

We have made every effort to include information on initiatives, both big and small, so people can contribute in a way that feels most comfortable for them, while trying to keep the number of choices as low as possible so as not to be overwhelming.

Our focus is on Israel-based projects, which allow for contributions to be made from outside of Israel. We feel this is an important part of this site, and helps people feel more connected to what’s happening on the ground. While most organizations highlighted on this site are registered 501c3s, some are smaller, more grassroots efforts that may be lesser known, but were created by people we know and trust.

It is important to note that all donations are made directly through the sites of the organizations of the donors choosing and the creators of this site do not receive any profits.

What types of organizations are listed on your site?

There are so many worthwhile organizations, and we have tried to include efforts that will speak to each donor personally. Some causes address needs like aiding terror victims and supporting the military (including canine units) with food and supplies. Others combat antisemitism, offer medical and mental health assistance and mobilize volunteers to provide assistance where needed.

The list is constantly being updated, as needs will change rapidly in the aftermath of the attacks.
